Honour and Glory?

Yesterday I discovered that (1) the intended exclusive behind the scenes photographic essay on Black Caviar in the Daily Telegraph wasn't going to print this week, and that in it's place is more sporadic images being published each day.  There were 2 images published in today's paper, one of them is one of my favourite images from the beach, taken right on dawn.  The other was a racing image and it was run as a huge poster.  Alas and woe they left the photo credit off this one, leaving me feeling somewhat annoyed.

However yesterday did bring some good news.  I'd had a meeting about a particular project on 17 January that involves real honour and glory.  After the meeting I spent all day and night, and much of the next morning bursting to receive a phone call I'd been expecting to talk about how the meeting went and what was involved. Since then I've pushed the project from my mind for one reason or another.

But today in lobbed an email out of the blue, containing the finished artwork.  This was my first real contact with the team since that meeting, and my first look at the artwork for the individual items, and the packaging.  I've still got all the delicate negotiating to go through to work through the fine details, and again I had to fight off the impulse to pick up my phone to tell my news, but the artwork looks amazing.

And finally the Arrowfield Marquee at the Easter Yearling Sale was filled with huge enlargements of the paddock imagery I've been taking of the Arrowfield "Boys" over the past couple of years.  I received some wonderful comments on the work, and loved the way the photographs have reproduced.

When we came to the sales on Monday, we parked Dan behind a white car, that was just a little bit fancier than Dan..  But I bet he wasn't as cool, or as faithful.  They became friends, as you'll see from the next photograph!
Dan and I squeezed into the car park on Tuesday, being just about the last car they let in.  His new best friend had saved him a spot!

Maxie is liking his first trip away from home.  He thinks that the staircases are ace!

  1. Congratulations on the beautiful poster Bronwen. Your world class photography is recognized with or without the photo credit. But I agree, it's poor form of the DT not to put your name on the poster. My Aussie aunt is sending me a copy as I'm your #1 fan in Texas. I'm looking forward to seeing your take on my boy, Animal Kingdom. Personally I think AK and BC would be a perfect match when they let her retire and become a mama.

    1. Thank you Lorrie, you're very kind. I can't wait to meet Animal Kingdom either. I love the way he has a large fan base in the US. If your aunt is sending you the poster from the Telegraph you'd probably also really enjoy the issue of Racetrack Magazine that's just hit the stands, it has my image of Black Caviar on the front cover and a lovely shot of mine as the big centrespread. It's a special Black Caviar edition, I think you'd enjoy it. Regards.. Bron
