From Balnarring

We are having calamari and chips in the gorgeous little town of Balnarring. We are packed up and shortly about to do the short drive "back" to Melbourne. Coming from Canberra the entire Peninsula still seems part of Melbourne to us.

Balnarring is going to be home for us. We still haven't found a house. My plans of buying straight away gave evaporated due to the shrinking timeframe between now and when we need to move in, and the logistical hurdles that we still need to jump over. I sigh somewhat at the thought if having to move twice. It's not what is hoped for. But it is what it is.

Tomorrow is Caulfield Guineas day. "AJ" is running. That's Atlantic Jewel. I've played around with her a little lately. She's very pretty. I'm still unsure of the day we need to return home as I may have an early morning (in the dark of course!!) before we leave.

The subject of trackwork and getting up early is the order of the day at this time of year. It is all encompassing as the run to Melbourne Cup week begins to thunder down upon us. I love getting up early and being around the horses. I love leaving the house before dark to do it. "Do you miss him? Every Day..." I wrestle in my mind with flights that need to be changed, and the things that I need to get done.

Atlantic Jewel, or "AJ" at dawn.  Flemington Racecourse.  She snuck up behind me, but even in the backlit glow, I knew it was her in a heartbeat.

My 'new boy', It's a Dundeel.  His foot was finally beginning to come good.  Poor boy had been as lame as a duck..

Balnarring Beach.  This is where we are going to live.

  1. Balnarring looks very pretty, Bronwen. When we moved from SA to Melbourne, we moved twice. We put all our stuff in storage and lived with family while we found a house. That worked well for us and I have loads of handy hints if you decide to do something similar ... mistakes we made, things that worked really well ... feel free.
