The World's Best Sprinter

The other magical aspect to this year's Cox Plate day was the performance of Black Caviar in the Schweppes Moir Stakes. This has always been a terrific race. Again, it's role call of winners is impressive, boasting past winners such as Manikato, Schillaci, Falvelon, Spinning Hill, Miss Andretti and Apache Cat.

The field for 2010 was somewhat depleted by the late withdrawal of Hay List due to an elevated temperature. He'd previously won the Gilgai and Manikato Stakes in incredible fashion, and they were billing the race as a bit of a match between Black Caviar and Hay List. However the inclusion of those wonderful mares from NSW, in Hot Danish (a particular favourite of mine) and Melito still meant that this was a strong rendition of the race.

I went down the straight, and stood a little bit before my Cox Plate vantage point, and watched through the lens a little bit in awe as Black Caviar ran away from two such high quality mares.
