No mum, I haven't forgotten how to spell Pharoah..  I am writing about a horse, who on Sunday morning Australian time won the Triple Crown in America.  His name is American Pharoah.  It was pretty cool.  I feel completely in love with the American thoroughbred at the moment.  But then again, I think I always was.  Something about growing up refusing to read anything except "The Black Stallion" books I guess...  These stallions are so far my only links to the Triple Crown.  I love each and every one of them. It seems like forever since I have sat down at my computer (or my iPad) and written on this Blog.  To my regular readers I'm sorry.  To begin with I guess things just seemed to be sailing along so nicely that I almost forgot about writing.  Or at other times I think just keeping up with everything meant that I was wasn't devoting that 30 minutes or so most days to writing.   However in August it became apparent to me that all wasn't well with me.  For someone who's always been well, and the only 2 times I've been in hospital was for the birth of my two children, this came as a bit of a shock.  But then I guess "The Spanish Dancer", or "The Big C", or pure and simply cancer, is always going to be a shock.  I think it's one of life's real cruelties that a girl had to get cancer to get loads and loads of really beautiful and cool flowers. I won't go in to too many details here, but suffice to say that I have been extremely fortunate...

In a prime weight for age year there is no way that you'd expect the Newmarket Handicap to completely upstage the G1 Australian Cup.  It's been won by some wonderful horses over the years.  Saintly.  Octagonal, Northerly, Bonecrusher, Vo Rogue, and Makybe Diva.  This year's race was won by the Street Cry entire Shocking.  It was a good win, and lovely for his jockey Corey Brown, who'd battled dislocated ribs after being crushed by a horse he was due to ride in barrier trials on 4 March.  I've had a cracked rib from a horse fall, and moving was awful, let alone getting fit to ride in a G1 race over 2000m.  A friend made the comment that it was a shame that So You Think was no longer in the country to really put the seal on the day's greatness, and that's true.  But Shocking could only beat those that presented on the day, and as they life, life must go on.  Black Caviar has well and truly stepped in to fill those giant shoes left vacant by ano...
