I'm on the plane to Melbourne tomorrow for 2 days.  And am currently pacing my house in frustration and annoyance at myself (and at the fact that no one phoned me when it was discovered 20 mins after I checked out) because I've just discovered that I have left my D4's battery charger in Scone.  There are some that might reassure me that the battery having 2 bars left on it is ok, and I shouldn't be recharging it anyway yet, but I hate going into a Group 1 meeting with my camera not fully charged..  So I'm furious with myself.  It was the tiredness of Sunday that saw me leave it there.  Does it serve me right for sneaking a little top up charge to the battery, when this is supposed to be a no-no?  Can't ask, so I don't know.... I've put in a call to one of my mates at the paper, and he gave me the number of another paper photographer, and so I'm hoping that someone will be able to bring one along, but I couldn't raise him when I phoned.  Will...

This image, and story, is running in the Sunday Telegraph this weekend.  It's also going into the Herald Sun (actually they may have chosen different images).  From the online issue of the HSun they have spelt my name incorrectly, which, if it runs Front Page, like they said this afternoon it would, will be frustrating.  The image of the horse, and the fact that she has earnt yet another front page however, is the main thing.  Peter Moody is tired of all the press attention.  He was reluctant to speak and give words.  I gave him a little nudge yesterday, and said I'd think he would be really ace if he gave them something.  Judging by the article, I think he has.  He's a treasure.. This was a new experience for me.  Australia Post asked me to participate in the Designer Gallery for the Black Caviar stamp release.  It's where stamp collectors and general fans of the Famous Pony came to buy their stamps, and then have their stamp packs signed by the photographer and the designer.  Amazing..... I think my signature got worse, not better, as the afternoon went on.  Sorry about that. And on the subject of these very beautiful stamps, I got the following text message from Aunty this afternoon.  It was a lovely, unprompted, message that made me smile.... "Your proud aunty is at the Exhibition Building at Aust Post World Stamp Expo and I have just bought your Black Caviar stamps and book.  So proud of you..  I told a lot of people there that the photos were by my niece..  Anne x". I've just arrived back at Tullamarine Airport, and am killing a little bit of time before boarding my flight home to Canberra.  It's been a very busy and really wonderful 3 days.  My little girl Jessica phoned me up this morning, of her own accord she said, to say she loved me and to wish me Happy Mother's Day.  I'll be back with her and Heath about 5pm today, and we're going to have a Mother's Day dinner this evening with my brother and my nephews, and that will be really ace. I've been at the Stamp Expo for most of yesterday and a fair bit of today.  I picked up one of my nephews, and my son, a lovely stamp sheet/booklet from The Hobbit which looks gorgeous (well, ordered, they were out of stock).  And I've been signing people's Black Caviar stamps, envelopes and coin sets today, with the stamp designer David Cain and the great set of people who work at Australia Post.  They gave me a lovely bottle of wine to say thank you, I was touched by th...

I'm still trying to get a stamp after being with a Pony down in very lovely horse territory. I am following my wits slightly as I came off Eastlink onto Bulleen road, heading for Northlands. I navigated this exact route once before. I gazed thoughtfully at the large Ford Dealership on the corner of Manningham and Something-Else Road. It was my landmark to turn off to have a cup of tea at a friend's house.  I will have to start thinking about a new car soon. Except I don't want a Ford. Perhaps the stamps will have arrived and the nice Post Office lady will have remembered to put some aside for me?  When I get back I have some lovely and intimate photos to go through. They are just what I was seeking to achieve.

It is Friday 10 May.  I'm up early to catch a plane to Melbourne for the weekend.  I've been waiting weeks to be able to post these images, which further immortalize the great champion, the Famous Pony, Black Caviar.  Australia Post today release a Black Caviar Postage Stamp.  The stamp features an image I took of Black Caviar during her 2012 autumn campaign. I was asked to photograph the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Cocktail Party on Monday 8 April 2013.  It was held at Star, with the most amazing views over Sydney Harbour in the outside viewing/entertainment area.  These sorts of events are hard work, but there's some nice images here.  It was good catching up with a few friends as well.
